Feature and Follow - After the Reading
What do I do with books once I have read them?
Depends. They go one of three ways. One, about half, go on my shelves either because I think I might read it again or because I might use it as a reference. Second, a few, I pass on to someone else directly or donate. Third, I post them for sale on one or more of the online sites that I sell used books through.

I keep the ones I like and plan to re-read and donate the rest. Loving my Kindle though, helps keep the clutter under control.

Thanks for the follow. Where do you donate? My donations usually go to local charity sales.
DeleteHopping through. What sites do you sell used books through. Is it easy to do?

As FindBooksToRead and FindRomanceToRead I am on Abebooks, Alibris, Half, and Biblio. For a small amount of books it is easy. For even a thousand you really need to have software to manage inventory.
DeleteYes, I can't throw my books away~ I love them too much even if they're the ones I didn't quite enjoy. I'll try to re-read them and see if I change my mind later on.
ReplyDeleteNever throw them away, re-purpose them! I just can't keep them all - my place looks like a library as it is!
DeleteI know a lot of people who sell their books on sites. That is a great idea!!!

I got started when I owned a used book store. Donating them is also great - I gave over 200 to HeadStart at the beginning of the summer.
DeleteI don't know if I could ever go through the effort of selling a book. Besides, I use my library enough that I feel that I owe them something -- and if they want books, I got books to give.

The library has a book swap - but they only allow an individual to contribute 10 books - not even a drop in my "done" pile.
DeleteI usually collect books I know I won't have time to read again and give them to a hospice. The rest, the ones I adored, I keep because I love looking at them. :)

Yes! I've also given them to the hospital and to an Indian school.
DeleteI hang on to books I want to reread too. I have a hard time letting them go.

Thanks for the follow. No point letting them go if you might want to read them again!
DeleteI am a book hoarder. I hate letting books go even though I need the shelf space :) Following through GFC :)

It is a problem. :)
DeleteSeems after Christmas is always a good time to purge, since more seem to always come in then!
Most of my books are from the library, so I only buy a book if it's from a favorite author or if I really liked it.
ReplyDeleteNew bloglovin follower!
Here's my FF post .
Thank you for the follow! So you pre-read them before purchase? I never considered that!
DeleteI keep most of them, unless I really don't like them, or I desperately need space. Then I spend a while debating over which I like the least, or am least likely to re-read!

I pretty much do the same thing keep and sell. More keeping than selling.

Thank you! As space becomes more limited I've become better at NOT keeping.
