Feature & Follow - Convincing

Alison Can Read Feature & Follow

Question of the Week: Have you ever convinced someone to read a book, a series, or a whole genre? What book(s) and who was it? Did they like it?

Not often, but a few times. I got my son hooked on epic fantasy. I have recommended some history books to some friends. Unanimously when I convince someone to try a book or series or genre, they have loved it. Since I only try in rare instances, and only when I see a clear synergy, that is not surprising. I wish I would just be better at selecting new things for myself!

What about you? Comment, please!

  1. Our book club encourages reading just about EVERYTHING! We vote on
monthly group reads to discuss. Sometimes we hate 'em; sometimes we love 'em. The most important thing is to have fun, right?

I've been on somewhat of a high fantasy kick myself lately.

  2. What high fantasy? Game of Thrones?

    1. Genre classification is usually up to your own personal taste, but I'd call The Lord of the Rings and the Narnia Chronicles high fantasy because there is a lot of depth to the world building etc. Depending on how the books develop, Game of Thrones could definitely be classed as high fantasy. Hope this helps :)

  3. Epic fantasy is one of my all time favourite genres! It's just amazing! I do tend to get stuck in it though so it's really nice when people manage to introduce me to other genres! I'm a new GFC follower! Thanks for sharing :) I hope you had a great weekend!

  4. Sorry Juli, my question really was to Amber as to what type of fantasy she liked. Very nice short description by you, though! Thanks for following. I've been reading your blog for a couple years now.
